Sew a Little LOVE BUG!

Join us as we "SEW FOR A CAUSE".  It's been such a difficult year for children all over the world with schools and activities cancelled because of the COVID bug.  Piece to Peace will help any sewists or "want to be" sewists to create a little LOVE BUG.

Moda Fabrics has free patterns available for download at www.modafabrics.com (in the Menu, search Inspiration & Resources, click on Free Patterns) or pick up a copy at the shop.  The LOVE BUGS are the cutest soft, squeezable pillows which can be given to a child you know or donated for distribution by a local agency.

Fabric kits with rick-rack, buttons, and stuffing are available at the shop - or use from your stash.  Each pillow takes 5 fat quarters.  Drop BUGS for donation at the shop any time throughout the summer.

We are also sponsoring a Kid's Day Camp on the first Saturday of each month this summer.  On June 5th, July 3rd, and August 7th, kids (ages 9 and up) can come in and make a BUG.  For a $10 fee, they can make one to keep or one to donate.  Sewing machines will be set up for their use as well as all the tools needed to complete the BUG.

Call the shop (309-836-5999) with any questions!

City Stars Table Topper - POSTPONED!  Watch for this class at a later date!

Wednesday, May 26 at 1:30 PM; Wednesday, June 9 at 1:30; and Monday, June 14 at 9:30 AM

Cost: $30 plus pattern, fabric & tools

In class we will begin to build this striking Table Topper using the Creative Grids 10” Log Cabin Trim Tool Duo and the Creative Grids Strippy Star Rulers.

There will be homework!  Please read your pattern through before coming to the first class. To save time please prepare your fabric using the product you prefer. We use Mary Ellen’s Best Press. Fabric that has been pressed using this product will be slightly stiffened. Using a product like this will result in more accurate cutting and piecing. Please cut your fabrics before coming to class. This will save a lot of class time.

Supply List:

  • Machine in good working order. Bring your machine manual. Clean your machine before class and insert a new needle.
  • ¼ inch pressor foot.
  • Fine tipped pencil
  • Marking pens
  • Rotary cutter with a sharp blade. If you have a rotating cutting mat it will come in handy but not required.
  • Good quality 100% cotton thread in a neutral color to use in piecing.
  • Ruler to use in trimming. I use a Creative Grids 3.5 x 12.5 inch ruler.
  • Standard sewing supplies, pins, extra bobbins, extra machine needles (we prefer sharp/ quilting, size 80/12), snips, seam ripper.
  • Please label your tools. Address labels work great for this.
